Our Itinerary

June 16, 2008 Roger and Thomas leave in the Taj Mah Van. Spend the night with Tom Schurr in Oklahoma City.

June 17 - Jodie, Marjory and Jacob fly to Albuquerque, NM. Roger and Thomas pick them up. Spend the night in Santa Fe.

June 18 - Santa Fe, Taos. Spend the night in Durango, CO.

June 19 - Soaring Tree Top Adventures - ziplines through old growth ponderosa pines. Ride the Silverton-Durango steam train. Spend the night in Durango, CO.

June 20 - Mesa Verde, Four Corners. Spend the night in Bluff, UT.

June 21 - Drive through Monument Valley and sunset at Grand Canyon. Camp at Mather Campground south rim of Grand Canyon.

June 22 - Hike the 3 miles down 3 miles up on Bright Angel trail, south rim of Grand Canyon. 

June 23 - Highway 89 to Page, AZ past Echo Cliffs. Powell Museum. Vermillion Cliffs. South end of Grand Staircase-Escalante to Kanab, UT. Movie museum. Zion National Park Lodge.

June 24 - Hike the Narrows and around Zion. Zion National Park Cabin.

June 25 - Canyoneering Course with Zion Adventure Company. Zion National Park Cabin.

June 26 - Drive to Bryce Canyon. Drive across Grand Staircase-Esclante on Highway 12 to Torrey. North to Salt Lake City and spend the night with the Plummers in Park City.

June 27 - Park City and concert by Roger Day. Alpine Slide and Alpine Coaster at Park City ski slope.

June 28 - Drive to Jackson Hole. Meet the Dixons.

June 29 - Grand Tetons - Back country permit to spend the next 2 nights on Leigh Lake with the Dixons. One group canoes to the campsite and the other group hikes.

June 30 - Hike, canoe, swim, explore Leigh Lake area.

July 1 - Out of the Back Country. Camp at Gros Ventre.

July 2 - Jenny Lake tour. Cascade Canyon hike. Camp at Colter Bay.

July 3 - Good bye to the Dixons and on to Yellowstone - Grant Village.

July 4 - Old Faithful area in Yellowstone and spend the night at the Old Faithful Inn with dinner.

July 5 - Explore through Yellowstone north to the Mammoth Hot Springs Area. Dinner Gardiner, MT.

July 6 - More exloring through Yellowstone east to the Canyon Village Campgrounds - camping.

July 7 - Hike Mt. Washburn. Horseback riding. Camp at Canyon Village

July 8 - Drive to Cody, WY. Eat at Irma's Hotel. Rodeo.

July 9 - Drive to Thermopolis, WY. Meet Newkirks. Tepee Hot Springs.,

July 10 - Drive through Ten Sleep Canyon, over Big Horns to Devils Tower, WY. Drive to Crazy Horse Monument then to Mt. Rushmore, SD. 

July 11 - Tour Mt. Rushmore. Wall Drug. Mitchell Corn Palace. Through Iowa to St. Joseph, MO.

July 12 - Drive across MO to St. Louis Arch then on to Franklin, TN. Home again!
